Remote electrification 'Island grid' solutions
Flexible, modular, extendable. AC coupled island grids are
an ideal solution for remote areas where connection to a
public utility is uneconomical or impossible. Using SMA
system management equipment, wind turbines, PV arrays,
generators, batteries and fuel cells can be coupled to the
AC island grid line. The consumer side can be extended to
incorporate remote homes or villages over wide areas. The
same system can be used to back up weak or unreliable grid
supplies.

Consumers requiring temporary power supplies for remote
construction projects, disaster relief or exploration and
survey work can now call on mobile power units providing
renewable energy electrification in the field. Based on a
standard sized shipping container, mobile power stations
utilise PV, wind turbines and battery storage coupled to an
island grid to provide immediate power anywhere.
